Who:

All business concentrations of all class levels! In addition, our faculty is encouraged to attend.

 

What:

The purpose of Fall Symposium is to provide students with an opportunity to get acquainted with large, regional, and Big 4 firms. Following a career fair format, this event is an excellent way to meet professionals and become familiar with different firms. It is free to attend as a student or faculty member. In accordance with business professional attire, backpacks should not be brought into venue.  It is highly encourage to bring copies of your resume, pad folio and briefcase acceptable.

Chumash Auditorium (located on the second floor of Cal Poly’s University Union)

 

When:

Friday, October 6th, 2023

10:00am - 1:00pm Fall Symposium

Why:

  • Freshmen: It's never too early to start familiarizing yourself with the firms that recruit from Cal Poly and getting your name out there! Participating in these events will help recruiters remember who you are and how much you care about getting a job.

  • Sophomores and Juniors: Introduce yourself to firms and find out a little more about what they offer. Network and don’t forget to get those resumes and business cards. 

  • Seniors and Graduates: Introduce or re-introduce yourself to the firms you are interested in interviewing with for full-time opportunities. Continue to network after the event so firms will know who you are by the time fall interviews come up.

 

How:

Firms: Firms that are interested in participating in Fall Symposium please contact our VP of Events at vpevents@polycpac.com.

Students: Fall Symposium is free to students, but make sure to register with the Eventbrite.

How to prepare:

  • Suit up! Dress is business professional. Wear your best suit and dress to impress.

  • Do your research. Browse the websites of the firms that will be there and see what they're about. We will provide a list of firm bios closer to the event.

  • Have your updated resume available to email to professionals and share with recruiters.
